Community Discussion – Disability and Kink

October 5 @ 6:30 pm 9:00 pm

Accessibility in kink: A guided conversation and Q&A

How can we more safely and enjoyably navigate disability when practicing kink? How can we tune in to our partners’ specific needs and boundaries? How can we assume less, and instead meet the uniqueness of others with a healthy, engaged, and respectful curiosity?

Kink is for everyone, and no disability or even combination of complex disabilities needs to be the absolute end of our journeys exploring our bodies, our minds, and the full rainbow of sensations and experiences available to us. Disability enters all of our lives at some point; so long as we can meet its demands to become more creative lateral thinkers, we can live just as vibrantly as ever.

This discussion will be primarily focused around disability, but remember, accessibility is for everyone! “Able-bodied” folks are highly encouraged to join us and participate, I promise that you will learn and benefit as much as anyone else.

Meet our guest speaker for this event:

Shiphrah is a queer trans settler, multicultural grandchild of holocaust survivors, and ambulatory wheelchair user who has been enthusiastically practicing kink for 15 years. She lives with multiple intersecting complex chronic disabilities defined by unpredictability, frequently oscillating between being visibly and invisibly disabled. She is a writer of political theory with a focus on capitalism/imperialism from a disabled perspective, and is a stalwart jewish anti-zionist voice speaking up for the total liberation of Palestine.
