UPGOING: A Novice’s Guide to Partnered Suspension

Event Series (See All)

November 5 @ 6:30 pm 9:30 pm PST

OR how to safely and confidently suspend your friends without making enemies

DESIRED OUTCOME

By the end of this series, you should understand the basics of how to:

  • tie two all purpose uplines suitable for most suspensions
  • attach those uplines to your harnesses
  • evaluate ties that you already know for suspension readiness
  • negotiate collaborative feedback and headspace with your partner
  • figure out how to evaluate what you should practice next
AUDIENCE

Aimed towards paired tying, with switches very welcome. Our teaching style is highly collaborative, and there will be some switching and self tying involved as part of the learning process.

This workshop series is one complete part. Participants are required to attend all parts with each other. The cost of the ticket is per pair for the entire series!

PREREQUISITES
  • All attendees (people tying and being tied) can easily tie a non collapsing single column tie.
  • People tying should be able to tie:
    • A suspendable upper body harness with at least two attachment points (front, back, side)
    • A suspendable lower body harness
    • People in rope should be comfortable in said harnesses.
MATERIALS
  • 10-12 ropes (jute or hemp preferred*)
  • At least two reinforced or rated uplines
  • Safety shears
  • 2+ carabiners or o rings

*natural rope (jute or hemp) is preferred. This is not because we think natural rope is superior in any way! We’re actually learning to tie with MFP. But our education has been with natural rope, and at the moment, we don’t feel equipped to safely instruct others on best practices with synthetics.
